Nepartak... has weakened slightly, and continues to maintain cold-core characteristics in satellite and remote microwave soundings. As the system crosses the northern portion of Japan over the Tohoku Prefecture, it is possible the low level center becomes less organized. However, the anomalously warm Sea of Japan and the supportive UL environment allows for a 50/50 chance of Subtropical development. While this process is easily unsuccessful, it certainly cannot be ruled out.
