Hurricane Chris is no more!

0

Hurricane Chris was always going to be a short lived tropical cyclone, but it did impress more than most of us expected (except the HWRF and HMON models who were revving up to Gert proportions in their forecasts).

However, storm force winds still extend out 180 nautical miles and will batter Newfoundland today.

The storm will be clear of the Americas overnight, and the extratropical incarnation will continue across the pond at the weekend, where it is likely to strike Iceland.

Chris reached a peak intensity of 105mph, according to the National Hurricane Center.

National Hurricane Center’s final forecast cone from 11am Atlantic Standard Time, July 12.
