Kompasu (Maring) entering the South China Sea – Video Update
Kompasu (Philippine name Maring) has entered the South China Sea and threatening the coastal areas of Southern China, including Hong Kong, Macao, Guangdong, and Hainan, which will be the potential landfall site of this rather large system. The CDPS for the system has decreased to Stage 2, which still means significant damages are possible around the landfall areas. Rainfall up to 150mm will be received by Hainan when it approaches landfall. Currently, this system is affecting Hong Kong and Macao with Typhoon Signal No.8 and Signal No.3 hoisted respectively.
Kompasu will likely strike Hainan on Wednesday, and Vietnam towards the end of the week.
