DISCUSSION ----------------------------------- A rare subtropical depression have formed over the western South Atlantic Ocean, off the coast of southeastern Brazil. This system is producing a broad and elongated areas of shower and thunderstorm activity, although there is an evident low level center based on latest scatterometer pass. Wind shear is generally moderate to high and expected to increase exponentially ahead of an advancing cold front from the southwest. Sea surface temperatures remains marginal for tropical development at 26C, but the subtropcial nature of this system relies more on baroclinic forces than barotropic forces, which allows for this storm to thrive in these conditions. This system is set to continue southward and could intensify into the next Subtropical Storm of the South Atlantic.
