Force Thirteen HQ sets new high temperature record

2

A little before 5pm on July 1st, 2018, a new temperature record was set at Force Thirteen Headquarters in Greater Manchester, United Kingdom.
The temperature reached a remarkable 33.2 degrees Celsius, beating the old record of 32.8 set on May 22, 2010. Records began in August 2009.

Using comparative data from other weather stations that have a longer data set, it is likely that it was the warmest day since July 19, 2006, when temperatures in surrounding areas also reached 33 degrees. It should be noted that Force Thirteen HQ is set in a warm-biased micro-climate, and that historical precedence is more important than the actual temperature reached, when taking into account the wider picture.

The forecast calls for the warm spell to continue, although more rain is likely across the board in varying amounts. However, the north of England is only expected to get very little, and the risk of fires and drought continues for many. After a slight cooldown later this week, the temperatures are expected to soar again at the weekend.
